Steel 12L14 Ledloy is a free-machining mild steel known for its exceptionally high machinability rating, achieved through the addition of lead (Pb). Often referred to as Ledloy steel, this material is ideal for high-speed CNC turning, threading, and production volume machining.
12L14 is widely preferred in manufacturing settings where tight dimensional tolerances, fine surface finishes, and reduced tool wear are required. Though not intended for welding or heat treating, it performs exceptionally well in automated turning centers and multi-spindle screw machines.
This material is supplied in cold drawn bars (round, hex, or flat), and is ideal for use in bushings, couplings, fittings, inserts, and threaded parts in mechanical and electrical applications.
USES | Parts requiring extensive machining and tight tolerances, along with a smooth finish Bushings, inserts, couplings, fittings |
