Product Description

The ultrasonic edge sensor is specifically engineered for precise edge scanning on materials with sound-reflective properties, such as paper and film. This sensor employs a unique scanning principle that ensures changes in web transparency do not affect the measurement signal, guaranteeing reliable web edge detection.

Operating on a compact design, the sensor seamlessly integrates into pivoting frames designed for small webs. The sensor features a CAN bus connection, and with its fully integrated electronics, it is entirely compatible with the Digital Control System (DCS).

Facilitating easy positioning, the sensor incorporates an LED strip in the receiver for guidance. For applications involving light-sensitive materials, the display can be easily removed.

Function:
Comprising a receiver and a transmitter, the sensor operates within a measuring range of ±3 mm. The transmitter emits ultrasonic waves, generating an amplitude in the receiver. The amplitude size correlates with the extent of the web coverage by the ultrasonic waves. Subsequently, the analog voltage undergoes digitization in the AD converter, and the resulting digitized value is then processed and evaluated by the microprocessor.

Upon completion of the evaluation, the processed value is transmitted via the CAN bus to both the controller and all other connected participants. This mechanism ensures seamless communication within the system.
