ITEM NAME | Innovative Traffic Flow Solution for Cross Road |
---|
At TECHNO CNC, we believe that smart design can solve everyday urban challenges. One such challenge is traffic congestion at Cross Road, Ahmedabad. Our team has developed a practical, low-cost, and easy-to-implement traffic management solution to improve road safety and reduce waiting times for commuters.
Our design leverages continuous traffic flow principles and optimized lane management to minimize the need for traffic signals. Inspired by innovative models like the “half-roundabout” concept (similar to the one shared by Anand Mahindra), we have improved upon the idea to suit Indian roads and mixed traffic conditions.
Key Highlights:
Reduced stop-and-go movement, cutting fuel consumption.
Clearer lane markings for smoother turns.
Minimal infrastructure changes—cost-effective implementation.
Flexible design that can be scaled to other high-traffic junctions.
30–40% reduction in average wait time (based on simulations).
Lower vehicle emissions due to continuous movement.
Improved safety with fewer conflict points than traditional signals.
Better driver experience—less honking and stress.
A similar approach was shared globally when industrialist Anand Mahindra posted about a Yemeni engineer’s road design that regulates traffic without signals. While that model sparked debate, our solution adapts its core principles with custom improvements for Indian conditions.

Inspired by Innovation. Adapted for India.
This layout demonstrates a modified half-roundabout design to enable continuous traffic flow without signals. Vehicles follow a guided lane structure that separates right turns, left turns, and through traffic—minimizing conflict points and eliminating the need for traffic lights.
Key Features:
Dedicated right-turn lanes
No cross-traffic stoppage
Free-flowing lane for straight movement
Efficient U-turn design
No signal needed at junctions
Reduced waiting time by up to 40%
Lower fuel use due to fewer stops
Scalable for other intersections
